I went to the hurling in St Columb Major for the first time yesterday, this is quite surprising as I’ve lived locally for my whole life and hadn’t witnessed it until this year. I dragged a friend of mine along with me and took my camera to try and get some photos. When I was there I came across someone who was on my old course which was a nice surprise and I chatted to him for a while. For more information on the hurling follow this link.

I went down to Constantine yesterday to sort some things out and also went for a walk in the sand dunes to take some photos. I had forgotten that I had my camera set on JPEG format instead of RAW. Safe to say I won’t be doing that again, the photos looked fine on the camera screen but as I wanted to do some post processing to them, the difference was massively noticeable. It makes me wonder how I used to get by with shooting in JPEG in the first place.

I’m really not sure why but I always seem to work better at night, I wish I knew why because it’s starting to get annoying. I think the reason might be because it’s always a lot calmer at night and I don’t have people constantly pestering me for little pointless things. My plan = Become completely nocturnal.
Also, i’m growing a beard.

Okay, so i’m in a really talkative/ typing mood. Which Is strange… I think it might be because I have been watching videos on youtube, and seeing how relatively simple ideas can gain such massive audiences, the difference is with those videos is that they get so many views because they are either extremely well made, or a fresh new idea. In most cases both. So anyway, what I am planning to do is; work, buy a good camera with a good HD filming mode (Hopefully a Canon 7D) and a decent quality prime lens (Maybe about 24mm) and make some videos… Not going to give too much away but I do have several ideas and am very keen to try them out.
Anyway, it’s all about exposure and if I can make consistently good videos then there should be an audience.
It’s one thing talking about it, but what really matters is actually doing it.
I’ve been in contact with several people, Including James Davis, A sponsored Trials Biker. Toby Donachie, A professional surfer. Josh Coombes, A sponsored windsurfer. And Holly Donnelly, a Roxy Surf teamrider.
And of course Ben Bennett, the surfer who has featured in many of my shots, when he comes back from his four month trip in Indonesia.
I’m feeling confident, lets see how things work out.
